Tasting Notes
Deep, dark, intense purple, ripe black fruit and pepper on the nose with hints of licorice, smooth, round, chewy on the palate.

Suggested Pairings
Cold cuts, roasted lamb, rabbit with wild thyme and roast potatoes, aged cheeses – for an authentic Apulian experience, try it with the local Caciocavallo Podolico cheese.

Aromas of ripe black fruit, spicy plum, graphite and a whiff of brine lead the nose of this robust wine. The round, savory palate doles out juicy blackberry, blueberry, licorice and ground black pepper alongside brawny tannins. It ends on a bitter prune note. Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast – 88 POINTS

The Wine
Menhir Salento Quota 31
is a ripe and mildly sweet red wine, with a hint of spice - an excellent example of the local characteristics of a Primitivo, the grape known as Zinfandel in the United States. Smooth and round, the fruit is apparent here, lending flavors of berries and plum.

The Winery
Cantine Menhir
is located in Minervino di Lecce, in the heel of Italy, Puglia region. The winery was founded by Gaetano Marangelli, and is quickly gaining a reputation for producing excellent wines which reflect the unique character of Salento. This region is one of the most picturesque corners of Italy, right on the Adriatic Sea, not far from Greece. The winery focuses on indigenous grape varietals producing wines such as Negroamaro, Salice Salentino, Malvasia, Verdeca, and, in the case of Quota 31, Primitivo.
