Ramione is a unique blend of Merlot and Nero d'Avola. Nero d’Avola is a grape varietal native to Sicily, where hot sunny days and cool nights result in a uniform ripening process, which gives to the grapes a unique character. Baglio di Pianetto grows its Nero d’Avola near the town of Noto, in the southern part of Sicily, whereas Merlot is grown in the north, near Palermo. Ramione was the first red wine ever made at the winery and gets its name from Baglio di Pianetto former owner.
