Gutturnio wine has its roots deep in ancient Roman history. A 'Gutturnio' was a kind of Roman vase used for drinking wine during feasts and banquets. Luretta Gutturnio Superiore has a unique flavor - a perfect blend of Barbera, with its freshness, and Bonarda, rich and velvety. Gutturnio is the flagship wine of Piacenza province, Emilia-Romagna region, in northern Italy.
Luretta is a family-owned winery dedicated to organic farming. All its wines are made with grapes grown without using fertilizers and with minimum irrigation. Herbs and other plants are allowed to grow between the vineyards – tough in a controlled way – so to facilitate the spreading of several insect species. These species, almost counterintuitively, reinforce the vineyards which in turn don’t need to be treated with pesticides.
