Intense, deep, ruby-red color with purple hues; complex nose, opening with rich aromas of plum, blueberry, dark cherry, as well as balsamic notes, graphite and eucalyptus; full bodied and supple; pleasant taste of fresh plums, cherry and cocoa, well balanced tannins, good structure, aromatic persistence on the finish.
Red grilled meat, pasta with meat-based sauce.
A savory blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, this opens with aromas of scorched earth, meat juices, leather, black fruit and spices. The dense, low-acid palate delivers black currants and fleshy black cherry accented with black pepper and mocha alongside soft, round tannins. Drink now through 2017. Along the charming coast of the Alta Maremma, to the south-west of Florence and about 100 km from the city, in the small and prestigious DOC Bolgheri area lies Tenuta Argentiera, which is part of the old Estate of Donoratico that once belonged to the Florentine Serristori family.
In Etruscan times, the plateau of the Tenuta was rich in canals, natural springs and silver mines, from which the estate’s present name derives, which made the area an important mining and agricultural centre.
The Tenuta is now owned by the brothers Corrado and Marcello Fratini.
